Returning from an MRI scanning session in which we tested whether the experiment runs smoothly (it doesn’t) and what it feels like to lie in a scanner (weiiiiird!), I noticed some pretty light stuff going on across the Spree (at least I think it’s the Spree… my geographic knowledge is rubbish and Google Maps is of no help). I think it was for some sort of circus festival but I don’t seem to find any details on this. I like circuses as long as they don’t work with exotic animals – clowns and aerial artists are so much fun!

Job, whom I had briefly met in Nijmegen, came to PRIM to give a talk about his thesis work. (Fascinating stuff! Check it out if you’re into second language acquisition, transfer, etc.) As per usual, the lab went out for dinner with him, this time we went to a crepe place in downtown Potsdam. Excellent sweet and savory food! The napkins featured an intro course in Breton.

If you’ve ever been to my office (past or present), you’re familiar with the ridiculous amount of coffee mugs I collect over the course of the week. Luckily, so far my office mates have been coffee aficionados as well, so I get to share my vice.

I was ravenous after a long and stressful day at work. As much as I hate cliché expressions, this grilled cheese sandwich (butter cheese and cheddar on pumpkin seed bread) absolutely hit the spot!

An afternoon trip to the Regierungsveirtel (where you’ll find the ReichstagBrandenburg gate, and similar government-y sights ended with glühwein and apple strudel (oddly enough made with pancake batter) at Cafe Lebensart.

Have you ever wondered how cows are able to give so much milk? Well, now you know. Picture taken at Heldenmarkt, a fair about sustainable products, ranging from food and drinks over clothes and toys to power companies and banks.

I bought a new bike! Yay! I’ve been riding my wonderful little Tigger for the past 12 years. Not only is he getting too small (well, I guess he’s been too small for a while), but I feel that with a serious daily commute, I should invest in something faster and more comfortable. Today was a quiet day at Das Radhaus, so I had all the time in the world (and a nice and knowledgeable shop assistant at my service) to find a new best friend. Granted, the batbike (KTM avenza) may not be as sporty as I’d like it to be (or as the other bikes I tried), but it’s damn comfortable and I’ll take that over stylish any day.
