Hi! Remember me? I’m supposed to post pictures on a daily basis but somehow February flew right by me. Work was hectic and crazy and disappointing and a little depressing. Private things were fun and exciting and blissful and definitely interesting. I took a few photos here and there, but I don’t like to think up memories from 10+ days ago. So I figured I’d use this entry as a largely uncommented pic dumb and start fresh in March – this time hopefully more in time. ;)

So this was February.

I swear one of these days I’ll stop posting home improvement updates. Today is not that day. The bathroom was the first room to have all of the bare bones, but we’ve put off everything that was not absolutely necessary because drilling into tiles is a bitch. We finally put up a lamp over the sink which is absolutely not aligned with anything (not even the sink), but we’re still mighty proud of it.

Life these days revolves around making our apartment pretty. Our shower has a weird shower curtain setup going on (it’s called something along the lines of “spider shower” and I advise against googling this term) and we couldn’t find any place that sells their shower curtains separate from the installation… thing. Luckily, one of the many websites we browsed mentioned the measurements of these special curtains, which, it turns out, are not so special after all because they are pretty close to the length and width of normal curtains. So we got this beauty. :)

Cutest housewarming gift ever! The elephants double as whistles (you need to blow into their trunk (kids, don’t try this at home with a real elephant)) because “you live on the big city now, where there’s crime and stuff.”

We don’t have a fridge yet, so all food that needs refrigeration lives on our balcony this week. (Winter in Germany means a few weeks around freezing point, which is very convenient right now.) Luckily, the balcony has a roof (which will also be great for tomato plants and my worms in the summer), so this works well.

I owe millions of thanks to the rockstars who helped make this move as painless as possible. (Is that a weird way of phrasing it? Probably.) I’m a lucky girl, blessed with amazing family members, great co-workers and wonderful friends. Thank you!

I spent the last hour of the day assembling my bed because that first night in a new house is very special to me.
(We have a saying in Germany that the dream of the first night in a new home comes true. I dreamed that I was bitten by a lion cub. Make of that what you want.)

A day of power-packing left me hopeful that mayyyybe there was a way I could actually make this move happen. It also made realize just how much stuff I have. Oh boy.
And with this, I was off. Goodbye, Potsdam!
